Privacy policy
Last updated 17 September 2026 · applies to dashtr for Android
dashtr collects nothing. Your logbook lives on your
phone and stays there. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising
and no server — and the Android app ships without the
INTERNET permission, so there is no route off the device for
anything to travel by.
1. Who this is from
dashtr is an Android application. In this policy, “we” means the developer who publishes dashtr on Google Play, and “you” means the person using it. Contact details are on the support page.
2. What we collect
Nothing. We receive no personal data, no usage data, no device identifiers, no diagnostics and no location. There is no account to create, no email address to give, and no profile.
This is not a policy choice that could quietly change in an update. The
app ships without the Android INTERNET permission, which you
can verify yourself: open Settings → Apps → dashtr →
Permissions on your device.
3. What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter — vehicles, fill-ups, services, expenses, reminders, trips and settings — is written to a database inside the app's own private storage on your device. It is not readable by other apps, and it is not copied anywhere.
You control every copy that leaves that private storage:
- Exports and backups. When you export a CSV or JSON file, or write a backup, Android's own file picker asks where it should go. dashtr writes the file to the location you choose and takes no further interest in it. If you pick a folder that belongs to a cloud app, that app's own terms and privacy policy apply to the copy.
- Sharing. If you share an export, a mileage claim or a printed service history, Android's share sheet asks which app should receive it. dashtr hands the file over; where it goes next is between you and that app.
Uninstalling dashtr deletes the database. Files you exported or backed up yourself are not touched, because they are yours and they are no longer inside the app.
4. Permissions, and why
The app declares two permissions. There are no others.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
POST_NOTIFICATIONS |
So a reminder you created can appear — a service coming due, or cover about to expire. It is requested when you create your first reminder, not on first launch. Declining it leaves everything else working; the app warns you in its own screens instead. |
com.android.vending.BILLING |
So you can make the one-time purchase through Google Play. It lets dashtr talk to the Google Play app already on your device. It grants dashtr no network access of its own. |
There is no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no location — coarse or fine — and no background location. dashtr's business trip log is typed by you; the app never detects, records or infers where you have been.
5. Payment
The one-time Pro unlock is sold and processed by Google Play. We never see and never receive your name, your email address, your card details or your billing address. dashtr asks the Google Play app on your device whether this purchase exists and gets back a yes or a no.
Google's handling of that transaction is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Children
dashtr is a tool for vehicle owners and is not directed at children. Since it collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
7. Your rights
Data protection law — including the GDPR and the Indian DPDP Act — gives you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or delete.
In practice, the equivalent controls are in your hands and in the app:
- Access and portability — export everything to CSV or JSON, free and unlimited, at any time.
- Correction — edit or delete any record in the app.
- Erasure — deleted records are recoverable for 30 days and then removed for good. Uninstalling removes everything.
8. Data safety, as declared on Google Play
Google Play requires every app to declare how it handles data. dashtr's declaration is:
| Data collected | None |
|---|---|
| Data shared with third parties | None |
| Data encrypted in transit | Not applicable — no data is transmitted |
| Can you request deletion? | Not applicable — no data is held by us |
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that introduced any data collection would require a new app version declaring new permissions, which Google Play shows you before you update.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy or about the app are welcome — see the support page for how to reach us.
