Terms of use
Last updated 17 September 2026 · applies to dashtr for Android
The short version: dashtr is a tool that runs on your phone. You own what you put into it, you pay at most once, and because there is no server there is nothing we can switch off.
1. The licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use dashtr on devices you control, subject to Google Play's own terms, through which the app is distributed.
You may not resell the app, redistribute a modified copy, or attempt to circumvent the paid unlock. Nothing here stops you exporting, copying or doing whatever you like with your own records.
2. Your data is yours
Every record you create belongs to you. dashtr stores it on your device and keeps no copy. Export to CSV or JSON is free, unlimited and never gated — including for people who have not paid. It is deliberately the one feature we will not put behind anything, because it is how you leave.
You are responsible for your own backups. There is no server holding a copy, so if you lose the device and have made no backup, the records are gone. The app writes a backup wherever you tell it to.
3. The free tier and the one-time purchase
dashtr is free to use for one active vehicle, with no limit on how many records you keep in it. That limit is stated in the store listing, on the first-run screen and on the Add Vehicle screen — before you enter anything, not after.
The Pro unlock is a single payment, not a subscription. There is no renewal, no expiry and nothing to cancel. It unlocks additional active vehicles and the features listed on the pricing section of this site and on the Pro screen in the app.
Your purchase is tied to the Google account that made it. Reinstalling, or installing on another device with that account, restores it.
4. Refunds
Purchases are made through Google Play, so Google's refund process applies and Google — not us — issues refunds. You can request one through the Play Store within Google's stated window. Beyond that window, contact Google Play support; we have no ability to charge or refund you directly.
5. What dashtr does not promise
dashtr helps you keep a record. It does not give legal, tax, financial or mechanical advice.
- Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee. They depend on your device's notification settings, its battery optimisation and its clock. Do not rely on dashtr alone to tell you your insurance is expiring — check with your insurer.
- Figures reflect what you entered. Fuel economy, cost per distance and every other number are computed from your own records. If a fill-up is wrong or missing, the figure will be too. Where something cannot be measured, dashtr shows a dash rather than guessing.
- A mileage claim is your claim. The trip log records what you type and applies the rate you set. Whether a journey is claimable, and at what rate, is between you and your employer or tax authority.
6. Liability
dashtr is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for lost records, missed renewals, penalties, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer law in your country that cannot be limited by agreement.
7. Changes
These terms may change as the app changes; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use dashtr after an update means the current terms apply. We will not move a feature that is free today behind the paywall — export, backup, import, search, charts, reminders and unlimited records stay free at every tier.
